Hundreds of Facebook groups hijacked

As we speak, Facebook groups are being attacked. By who you might ask? A group called "Control Your Info" has been taking over Facebook groups that have had administrators step down from their title. When an administrator steps down from their position, it creates a security hole which allows anyone to step up to that position. Once marked as an administrator, the attacker is able to modify the group, view member information, and control the group.

The recent attacks from "Control Your Info" were claimed to be in peace. They claim to only show the security flaws in social networking sites.

AurelloSoft recommends taking action to protect your information. Here are a few steps to take.

  • Remove yourself from any groups you do not actively participate in.
  • If you notice an administrator has stepped down, consider removing yourself until the spot has been taken by someone you trust.
  • Keep an eye out on what you publish to the internet.
